I have always taught, and written: letters, diaries, book reviews, writing about art in various publications, and music, including a the libretto for The Tale of the Birdcatcher, an opera for children composed by Peter Scholes.
In 1994 I went on safari in Zimbabwe. I wrote Safari which was published in A Passion for Travel, a collection of travel stories by New Zealand writers edited by Tina Shaw. Years later I walked the Camino in Spain. Walking and writing are entwined for me. My journal turned into Towards Compostela – Walking the Camino de Santiago, published in 2020.
I’ve written two chapbooks about Jane Austen, and a small children’s book about travelling to Wellington for the first time.
I have Masters degrees in English and Creative Writing from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington.
I also taught travel writing for three years at Massey University in Wellington and for several VUW's Continuing Education
