Eda Tang is a journalist and writer. She was a Pou Tiaki journalist at Stuff NZ, telling stories of te ao Māori and other underrepresented communities. Currently, her writing focuses on disabled communities and New Zealand Chinese histories. She's a co-host of Āku Hapa! a TV show on Whakaata Māori that uses cooking as the waka of speaking te reo Māori in a fearless and hapa-embracing way. Eda is currently studying a Level 7 Diploma in Te Reo Māori at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
Eda taught music at Mid Bays Music School for six years and was also the Assistant Director of the school for three years. She passed Trinity's Grade 8 Flute exam with distinction and plays various instruments. Eda has a love for learning and teaching waiata Māori and sharing her lifelong love for music with others.
