Beginners Drama is an introduction to the elements of drama through practical activities using improvisation and role play, creating scripts and studying plays written for children. This class is designed for those who are newer to drama. We have a Drama Production on Friday afternoons for those children who are confident performers and want to learn more.
Students will work as a team, have the opportunity to view the work of Selwyn Junior Performing Arts, keep a journal that records their process and work towards an ensemble presentation.
During this course you will gain confidence in working with a group. You will be able to practice a variety of drama skills, record your process and personal reactions, recognise the elements of drama, and contribute to the ensemble presentation.
This course is designed as an introduction to drama for students aged 8 - 10 years. Wear comfortable clothes that allow easy movement and please bring a 1B5 exercise book and pen or pencil. As this is an after-school activity, children are welcome to bring their afternoon tea to class.
February 2020: "I don't know if this is the right forum to send this feedback but if you are able to forward this to June I would really appreciate it. My daughter started with you this term in your beginners drama class and she is thoroughly enjoying the time with you. She has a bounce in her step on Wednesdays. Thank you for your encouraging nature and for the afternoon tea you provide for them. What a gem finding this class for her. Kind regards, (name withheld at client's request)."
