Description
2025 course dates
Courses run for eight week courses. Each course has classes on Mondays and Tuesdays and Wednesdays 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. This is a total of 48 hours tuition over 24 classes. Courses start:
- Term 1 - 10 February
- Term 2 - 28 April
- Term 3 - 21 July
- Term 4 - 6 October
About the course
The English Elementary course is for those starting to understand and use simple English who can understand familiar everyday expressions and phrases. This course teaches reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and vocabulary. Please contact the office if you wish to take a short test to find your English level.
Maximum class size 12 students.
Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) fee subsidy
This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the TEC for:
- NZ citizens;
- Those who hold a residency-class visa;
- Those granted refugee status;
- In some cases spouses of NZ citizens and permanent migrants may also qualify - please contact the office to enquire.
Conditions:
- Registrants must be aged 16 years or older.
- Registrants must not be currently enrolled at a secondary school.
- You should attend at least 80% of your classes to qualify for a fee subsidy.
- We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes.
- You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status.
If you are unable to meet all these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation.
Course fees
Qualifying learners: $35 plus course books $95. This course fee is subsidised by the TEC and conditions apply.
Others: $470 plus course books $95. If you are awarded a resident visa while you are studying with us, please let us know. You may qualify for a fee rebate on your current course.
If you already own the course books, your fee will be discounted.
Refugees may qualify for a free course but will need to buy course books. Please contact the office for more information.
