The rise of authoritarian movements presents an increasing illiberal trend in international affairs. Rapidly modernizing China and India are at the vanguard of this phenomenon. As other major world powers also adopt such values, authoritarianism is now being normalised across the world. Does this signal the demise of western democracy and the dawn of an authoritarian era in world politics?
