Home Think Talk:Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance: A Global Challenge

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most pressing global health issues, with the potential to impact everyone, everywhere. If left unaddressed, AMR will only continue to worsen, threatening the effectiveness of antibiotics and other life-saving treatments. This talk will provide a comprehensive overview of antimicrobial resistance, covering its origins, the factors contributing to its rise, and its impact across health, environmental, and agricultural sectors.

    Description

Think Talk: Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance: A Global Challenge

    Tuesday 18 November  7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

In this talk, we will explore the following key areas:

    • What is Antimicrobial Resistance?: An introduction to AMR, how it develops, and why it is a growing concern worldwide.
    • The Causes of AMR: A deep dive into the human, environmental, and agricultural factors driving the rise of resistant microbes.
    • The Consequences of AMR: The impact on public health, the environment, and the economy, and the risks of inaction.
    • What We Can Do: Practical solutions and strategies to combat AMR, from policy changes to individual actions.

To conclude the presentation, Ghader will highlight the ways we can all work together—across sectors and borders—to slow the progression of AMR and help ensure a healthier future for all. This talk will be both informative and motivating, providing participants with a clearer understanding of the issue and a renewed sense of responsibility in addressing this urgent global challenge.
