We will go on a journey of discovery through Māori sculpture; embracing the traditions of the past while drawing on contemporary art and culture. Students will learn real sculptural skills. They will transfer 2D plans into 3D forms, learning how to weave; carve; make wire armatures; work with papier-mâché and more.
This workshop is ideal for children interested in sculpture and wanting to learn about Māori art and culture; and especially those eager to engage with aspects of Māori culture through practical art activities.
All materials supplied. Just bring your lunch and drink bottle. Wear clothes suitable for mess.
