Description
This course is for those new to sewing and will teach fundamental sewing skills. You will leave with your own kimono-style robe.
Expected learning outcomes
- able to thread and use a sewing machine
- able to read pattern instructions
- able to lay out and cut fabric
- able to assemble and sew your garment
What to bring
- 2.40 metres of fabric - natural fibres ony eg wool. cotton, viscose - definitely no stretch fabrics please
- a roll of matching thread
- 1 metal bobbin to fit a Bernina machine (unless you're bringing your own machine to use)
- Sewing kit recommended as follows:
- Pins
- Fabric scissors
- Small scissors or snips
- Tape measure
- Tailor's chalk or fabric marking pen
- Unpicker
- These items are all available in the sewing room and you are welcome to use ours if you prefer
- Bring your lunch. We'll provide tea and coffee
- Your course fee includes a charge for the preparation and supply of the robe pattern which you'll get to keep.
