This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizen and permanent migrant adults, their partners on work visas, and refugees, aged 16+ who are not currently enrolled in a secondary school. We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes. You must also provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status if requested. A condition of accepting a course fee subsidy is that you commit to at least 80% attendance of your course. The subsidised course fee is $50.
Do you always put yourself second? Come and learn effective techniques to help you to put your own needs first. Based on the book, No More Mr Nice Guy, this course has been adapted to be relevant for men and women, as most of us have people-pleasing habits. We will discuss the characteristics that make someone a 'people pleaser'. Each week we will do activities to identify behaviours that don't work for you and how to change them. The activities are designed to help you discover more effective ways of meeting your own needs which will make your relationships with others healthier.
Just yourself. We'll provide all the materials for this course ($8).
I'm really enjoying the people pleasing course so far! I think that there is a great group of us in the class and Julia does a wonderful job at facilitating safe and open conversations. The homework is also great for self reflection. I think my only negative about the course may be that 6 weeks is not quite enough time to really work through all of the course content - it may be better formatted as an 8 week course in my opinion. 2022
I am seeing real progress in my ability to advocate for myself and not be as people pleasing as I was before the course began and have been recommending it to my friends and co-workers for next year. 2022
I would like comment that I really enjoyed the class - Julia West was a very competent facilitator which made the group a safe environment to share experiences. A 2022
