This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizen and permanent migrant adults, their partners on work visas or visitor visas, and refugees. To qualify, registrants should be over the age of 16 years and not currently enrolled in a secondary school. We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes. You must also provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status. A condition of accepting a course fee subsidy is that you commit to at least 80% attendance of your course. Subsidised course fee $35.

Our kind and patient computing teacher Kathy will teach you the absolute basics and get you feeling confident about turning on the computer and completing simple tasks. This will provide a good foundation for starting computer learning if you wish to continue and learn how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Publisher to a higher level.
Those with little or no ability using a personal computer for simple tasks such as email, file management, writing letters, creating simple spreadsheets to capture numerical data and perform simple calculations. Those wanting to gain basic computing skills to enhance their employability. Please note this course is taught in a Personal Computer suite at Selwyn College. We do not offer MacBook (Apple) training on this course.
