Closed terrariums create a special humid environment similar to that of the tropics. Glass containers allow both heat and light to enter a terrarium, generating conditions that create condensation and photosynthesis, both vital aspects of plant growth.
Join us in this interactive workshop to create your own miniature world to take home and enjoy. We will guide you in selecting appropriate plants, making your own tools and teaching you the steps involved in construction and care.
A materials charge is included in your course fee and we will supply everything needed to create your own miniature world, including plants, stones and a glass container (value $65). If you wish, bring your own small toys/figures (no taller than 10cm) if you'd like to include these in your terrarium (or add one later).
Adults (16+) who enjoy plants and want to explore a new form of close-contact gardening.
I have worked with sustainability since 2011 and started to make terrariums six years ago. I like the closed terrarium because I can see how nature behaves. I like to imagine that is how things would be in our planet without us.
September 2022: I just wanted to say what a wonderful course this was. We needed a very large number of different items, and the instructor provided absolutely everything and had everything laid out and individually organised when we arrived. There was also enough stuff that we had plenty of choices as to what to use. He explained everything clearly and we had enough time to chat and make our terrariums.
