Using a fine metal nib with a reservoir, you will learn Modern Cursive - joined lettering styles. This lettering style comes from the Victorian era and can be very elaborate with its flourished strokes, or have a more modern fun and flowing rhythm to its style.
Learning how to manage and control a fine metal nib, and with confidence, looking at the principle pen strokes required to make up these letters. We will learn playful exercises that develop these strokes before moving with confidence to manipulation to add movement and fun into these strokes. All this play and pen handling helps as we work to creating letters, flourishes and patterns.
You will receive a nib holder and a beginner metal nib and ink to take with you at the conclusion of the class, also worksheets that will assist you in further development of the letter forms learned. These worksheets will keep you moving beyond this workshop allowing you to develop the discipline of strokes that bring this style of lettering to life in today's world.
