Description
2025 Course dates
Courses run for eight week courses. Each course has classes on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday 7 - 9 PM. This is a total of 48 hours tuition over 24 classes. Courses start:
- Term 1 - 10 February
- Term 2 - 28 April
- Term 3 - 21 July
- Term 4 - 6 October
About the course
The English Beginners course is for those with little English. Learn the basics to enable you to start to speak, read and write. Please contact the office if you need to take a short test to find your English level. You need to buy text books to attend this course.
Maximum class size 12 students.
Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) fee subsidy
This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the TEC for:
- NZ citizens
- Holders of residency-class visas
- Individuals granted refugee status
- In some cases, spouses of NZ citizens and resident-visa holders may also qualify - please contact the office to enquire.
Conditions:
- Registrants must be 16 years or older
- Registrants must not be currently enrolled at a secondary school
- You should attend at least 80% of your classes to qualify for a fee subsidy
- We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes
- You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status
If you are unable to meet these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation.
Course fees
Qualifying learners: $35 plus course books $95. This course fee is subsidised by the TEC and attendance conditions apply.
All others: $470 plus course books $95. If you are awarded a residency visa while you are studying with us, please let us know. You may qualify for a fee rebate.
If you already own the course books, let us know.
Refugees may qualify for a free course but will need to buy course books. Please contact the office for more information.
