Ashtanga yoga is a practice that focuses on linking mind and movement by breathing and being present and aware of your body. Ashtanga focuses on muscle training and developing physical strength.
Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic system that gracefully synchronises breathing and movement. The Sanskrit word ashtanga translates as eight-limbs, referring to the eight-limbs of yoga as outlined by the great sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras.
Ashtanga Yoga for Beginner classes are fixed for those new to this practice. Each class starts with energising sun salutations, invigorating standing and seated postures, then cooling and meditation practices. The practice combines strength, flexibility, and stamina so you leave the class feeling energised yet with a relaxed mind.
