Description
Develop your art practice by including a range of mixed media elements to your work. Mixed media artist Sanjay Theodore will introduce you to installation art through mixed media. You will learn to work with paint, pastel, collage, pencil, washes, and a range of other materials. At the end of the course you will be able to create your own large work to take home and feel proud of.
This course will introduce Mixed Media Art which will lead to an understanding of the ideas behind Installation art through mixed media. You will learn the history of Mixed Media Art and how to develop your own work and explore themes in art such as nature, identity & landscape by re-interpreting them in new and exciting ways. You will find a voice for your art!

Course outline
- What is Mixed Media Art?
- Knowing and using mixed media materials, experimenting with paint, photos using your device, drawing and the space itself
- Choosing what it is that interests you? What makes you, you? Or do you like landscape, nudes or still life?
- Sharing your ideas with others and getting fresh new concepts by looking at other people’s work
- What is your voice? Explaining and making your voice using your chosen media
- Deciding on your series of works and creating a range of pieces with a final masterpiece

About your tutor, Sanjay
Sanjay Theodore is a New Zealand conceptual artist who has exhibited in France, India, Australia and Aotearoa. His works are in collections such as The Tate Britain Library, The Royal College of Art and the National Art Library at the Victoria & Albert Museum amongst others.
