Come and learn about the famous Bauhaus! In this lecture series we will explore the life and legacy of the Bauhaus movement by understanding the historic context which gave rise to the movement, its key concepts as well as its legacy and influence on society today. If you have a keen interest in art, architecture and history, you will enjoy this course and find it beneficial for your personal or perhaps professional curiosity. To extend your learning, tutor Peetu will assign a small reading assignment between classes as a basis for discussion in the following week's class.

Jaspreet (Peetu) Kaur has recently earned a Master of Architecture degree from Unitec Institute of Technology. She is passionate about Art, Architecture and History and cultivates a growing interest in this subject. Her thesis explores Architectural placemaking in Auckland city, in response to its growing multiculturalism. She studied the History of Aotearoa New Zealand and its migrants; the Theory of Phenomenology; the concept of Public space; collective memory and migration, in order to understand what ‘place’ really is and what it means to ‘make place.’ Kaur has been working with the School of Architecture at Unitec for the last two years where she enjoys teaching the History and theory of Architecture to first year students.
