About the course
Are you an Advanced English learner wanting to develop your Speaking skills in a fun and supportive environment? If so, this course is for you!
You will learn and practice a variety of skills to help you develop fluency and confidence, including:
- Conversational Control – practise conversational techniques such as turn taking, short answers, small talk etc.
- Advanced Phrasal Verbs and Idioms - as they are used by native speakers.
- Discussing real-world events – analyse and give opinions on events happening in the
world today. - Enhanced Vocabulary – learn relevant topic-based vocabulary that native speakers
actually use. - Using Expressive Pronunciation - including sentence stress, intonation, pitch, and
natural pausing to convey exact meaning and emotion. - Spontaneous Thinking - build the ability to think on your feet and respond quickly
without overthinking grammar rules.
Join us for some great conversations and make some friends too!
Average size is 12 - 15 students.
Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) fee subsidy
This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the TEC for:
- NZ citizens;
- Those holding a residency-class visa (permanent migrants);
- Those granted refugee status;
- In some cases, spouses of NZ citizens and permanent migrants may also qualify - please contact the office to enquire.
Conditions:
- Registrants must be aged 16 years or more.
- Registrants must not be currently enrolled at a secondary school.
- You should attend at least 80% of your classes to qualify for a fee subsidy.
- We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes.
- You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status.
If you are unable to meet these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation.

Qualifying learners: $15 - funded by the TEC. See the conditions above.
All others: $160. If you are awarded a resident visa while you are studying with us, please let us know. You may qualify for a fee rebate on your current course
