    Description

Join Liz Mitchell, one of New Zealand’s leading bespoke couture designers, for an inspiring one-day workshop exploring the art of wet felting. Under Liz’s expert guidance, you’ll create a personalised textile piece using soap, water, fibre, and agitation to transform fabric scraps into something entirely new.

Drawing on your own treasured offcuts—lace remnants, crochet pieces, clothing fragments, or other meaningful textiles—you’ll learn how to repurpose and reimagine them through layering, texture, and creative felting techniques. The workshop focuses on turning what you already have into a beautiful, contemporary keepsake, rich with personal history.

Whether you're a maker, a textile enthusiast, or simply curious, you’ll leave with a unique handcrafted heirloom and the confidence to continue experimenting with sustainable, expressive textile art. All materials are included in your fee.

    About your tutor

Liz Mitchell MNZM is New Zealand’s leading bespoke fashion designer. Her love of wool has extended from fashion into the development of homewares using New Zealand strong wool. Felting is the oldest textile-making technique in the world, utilising just wool, soap, and water. As a strong advocate for sustainability and NZ strong wool, Liz has been exploring the processes of both wet felting and needle felting, using wool as her medium.

The passion Liz has for the different ways in which wool could be utilised has seen her create beautiful items that are approachable for everyday use. This includes a collection of pet pods and vessels, rugs, wall hangings, lightshades and living fleeces.
