Extend your knowledge of te reo rangatira.
This is a continuation course for those who have completed our Te Reo Māori Introduction 1, 2, and 3 courses, or equivalent. Students in the course should be familiar with sentences denoting possession and belonging (T, N, M series), rerekaimahi (agent emphatic structures), and negation of active sentences. This course will revise those elements and introduce comparatives, reretūoti (stative sentences), rerehāngū (passive sentences), and conditional sentences. By the end of this course, students will be able to deliver a 3-minute presentation in te reo Māori.
Gael Finlayson-Davis interviewed by Layla Bailey-McDowell of RNZ says: “Open your heart. Just listen and learn. There is so much generosity in the Māori community that if you take a step forward, you will be met.” Read Gael's full interview in the RNZ article linked to our website here, which celebrates Gael's journey with Te Reo Māori through Selwyn Community Education.
